Safer POD S1 Delivers Outstanding Results at 2025 Isle of Man TT

Merseyside Police reported a 100% decline in motorcycle theft in Liverpool City Centre with greatly reduced anti-social behaviour at the annual event, thanks in part to the strategic use of our Safer POD S1 intruder detection devices. Safer Group is proud to have played a role in this achievement through the deployment of our advanced security systems.

At this year’s Isle of Man TT, one of the world’s most iconic motorsport events, Merseyside Police reported a marked reduction in thefts and anti-social behaviour, attributing part of the success to enhanced on-site security measures.

Operation Needle was led by a coordinated effort with police, Liverpool City Council, BID, hotel and port operators, Isle of Man and Lancashire forces all coming together to protect the event. The Isle of Man TT, held from May 26th to June 7th, attracted more than 6,000 motorcyclists passing through Liverpool.

Five thefts were reported within Liverpool city centre during the 2024 TT. This year, with additional security including the deployment of our Safer POD® S1 intruder detection units, no thefts took place within the city centre. The trial was expanded to include Anfield and Kirkdale, where two motorbike thefts were reported. This represents a sixty six percent decrease compared to the 2024 TT period, during which six motorcycles were stolen in the Anfield and Kirkdale areas over the same two-week timeframe.

Our Safer POD® S1 devices provide 24/7/365 real-time surveillance across key city centre hotel sites. Our technology supported officers by delivering proactive alerts, ensuring a rapid response to emerging incidents while also acting as a powerful visual deterrent to combat crime before it strikes.

Financial support from the National Vehicle Crime Reduction Partnership (NVCRP), Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) Foundation and British Motorcyclists Federation (BMF) played a key role in bringing enhanced security measures to the event.

Sergeant Craig Winstanley, who took on a key role in Operation Needle commented:

“This is thanks to our joint effort with partners and our commitment to listen to the motorcycle community, consider their concerns and take action to protect motorcycles.

From speaking to motorcyclists from both the UK and overseas, they have given us really positive feedback about the security measures we have been able to implement thanks to the additional funding we have received."

Mark Kameen, Project Lead at the NVCRP, said:

“The deployment of targeted crime prevention measures has proven to be an effective deterrent, with no reported motorcycle thefts in areas where the security provisions were in place."

“Achieving a 100% reduction in thefts compared to previous years highlights the impact of proactive, collaborative efforts."

At Safer Group, we are proud to work alongside local authorities and event organisers to keep communities safe. Results like those gained at this year's Isle of Man TT demonstrate the value of intelligent security solutions to not only detect, but deter incidents in high-profile, high-footfall environments.
