Operation Short Circuit with Durham Constabulary delivered a 93% reduction in violent incidents and public order breaches. This was achieved through 17 targeted deployments across the county, aimed at improving community safety.

In a deployment with Northumbria Police, one retailer reported a 71% reduction in reported crime achieved during a two-month joint initiative that also delivered an £11,500 cost of crime saving.

Across the winter of 2025, one constabulary saw a 42% reduction in anti-social behaviour (ASB) across transport hubs including bus stations, services, and key town centre areas. These locations were chosen in line with crime hotspot research and following a public consultation by the police force within the region that highlighted a demand amongst women and girls for safety measures centred around late-night transport hubs.

Deploying alongside Warwickshire Police, 81% of surveyed members of the public reported feeling safer in a supermarket protected by a visible Safer POD® deployment.

To date, over £322,500 in estimated Home Office cost-of-crime savings have been confirmed through our proactive incident prevention.

Safer POD® solutions are a branded, high-visibility method of crime prevention. When deployed by Durham Constabulary, they provided an immediate visual crime deterrent. By positioning the solution within known crime hotspots, active oversight was signalled to potential offenders before criminal acts occurred. This was an example of situational crime prevention, increasing the risk of committing the act.

Early threat detection

Whether utilising smart motion tracking within our compact Safer POD® S1 or long-range thermal detection across the S4/X4 models, our team could identify loitering groups or unauthorised intruders long before threat escalation took place. This strengthened surveillance within known hotspots.

Immediate deterrence

Modular construction allowed for rapid deployment across 17 locations in County Durham, reducing the level of disruption required within a public space. If the visual presence of the solution isn't enough, an alarm or live audio warning within the S4/X4 could be delivered directly through the device to disperse individuals or loitering groups. This disruption removed the need for direct physical confrontation on the ground, preventing potential harm to officers and the public.

Actionable intelligence

All POD® solutions are actively monitored by our own Safer Group monitoring team, working from our own alarm receiving centre. Remote monitoring is conducted 24/7, 365. In the event of a suspicious incident, a trained member of staff makes a judgement on the escalation procedure. In the event of a crime, this would involve the police.
